WROCŁAW, POLAND / 2008

DISCOVERED from a multi-country voyage in 2008, where I captured Lost Melody and Steel Upward, this gem screamed for attention. And not just a little. As not only my first dyptich, but also my only foray into a B&W panoramic edition [thus far], it's a joy to introduce this.

WROCŁAW MAIN STATION, southwest Poland. A mid 19th-century project brought to fruition by 1857 and regarded as one of the largest construction projects in Europe during the German Empire's rule. High halls and platforms of wrought iron construction, reminiscent of scenes from war films in industrial nations.

QUICK FACTS

- my first diptych (two panels) and only foray into black & white thus far
- Polish resistance forces attacked Nazi troops at the station in 1943
- shortly after, when Nazi Germany fell in WWII, the station was given back to Poland and renamed Wrocław Główny (originally Breslau Hauptbahnhof)
- the station has been undergoing major revitalization since 2010, two years after my visit
- Wrocław is pronounced Brah-tswahff; the "r" is long and rolled, like in French
- 11 platforms, 13 tracks

* AUDIENCE-INSPIRED TITLE

I'd like you to create a fantastic title for this panorama. Should there be a winning title, the individual will receive the first official, approved print in the small edition! Shipping and all is on me! (Winner will personally be notified and results will be posted on my FB artwork page.) Deadline is November 30th.

WHAT TO DO: Simply send me an email with an intriguing title; could be one word, could be two, maybe even a few, it's up to you! I'll give them a deep think. Only serious responses, please!

THE TECHNIQUE

An engaging 360° view of a given space, photographed in a unique fashion and laid out before you like a world atlas.
